I want to install the PDT Development tools to my eclipse environment so that I may learn some PHP in my spare time.

My question is, from looking at my picture which PDT * Feature do I select to have installed? What does each one do? What is the purpose of the SDK vs the Runtime feature? Why does the SDK sit in the "uncategorized" group and the Runtime sit in the "PDT Development Tools" group?

It is just alittle confusing to someone like me who is new to this toolset and repository setup.

Any help and advise would be appreciated, thanks to everyone on this forum to reading!

Well considering it has been 24 hours since I had posted my topic on this forum and it has had over 300 views but no replies I went ahead and just choose the "PHP Development Tools Runtime Feature" under the "PHP Development Tools" group. I opened up some example php files I had and it appears to be doing syntax highlighting and suggestions. I will tinker some more with the IDE and see what i think of it.

Hey,
From what I can tell, they're all the same. My question is what's the difference between PDT & PDT SDK Features? You can't install both - it's either/or.

You can see their details if you selected each of them.

PHP Development Tools (PDT) 3.1.2.201212211235
|This feature provides PDT runtime plugins.
PHP Development Tools (PDT) SDK Feature 3.1.1.201209101312
|This feature provides SDK for PHP Development Tools.

If you installed SDK Feature, you can see it includes Runtime+Source features at About>Installation Details.

PHP Development Tools (PDT) SDK Feature 3.1.1.201209101312
|This feature provides SDK for PHP Development Tools.
PHP Development Tools (PDT) Runtime Feature 3.1.1.201209101312
|This feature provides PDT runtime plugins.
PHP Development Tools (PDT) Source Feature 3.1.1.201209101312
|This feature provides source code for PHP Development Tools.

SDK = Runtime + Source
Runtime = plugins which constitutes the PDT
Source = source code of Runtime plugins (for plugin developers, not for php developers)

("PHP Development Tools (PDT) 3.1.2.201212211235" is a successor of "PHP Development Tools (PDT) Runtime Feature 3.1.1.201209101312")

I feel it's a *trivial* question, but more silly fact is that Zend changed the PDT package.
Now you can see PDT 3.1.2 and PDT 3.1.1 in Juno repository. 3.1.2 is newer than 3.1.1 of course. However, both old and new are appears in the list because they are different package. Also, 3.1.1 cannot be updated to 3.1.2 because they are different package. To install 3.1.2, it is necessary to uninstall 3.1.1 and then install 3.1.2. This is the Zend quality.
