Hi,

Does EMFStore and EMFCompare integrated?

EMFCompare optimisation change information while comparing model as well shows in graph form. I could not find similar thing while seeing history view in EMFStore. It shows only non optimised change information in flat form and not in graph form.

Hi Asha,

yes, it is easy to integrate EMF Compare and EMFStore. We did this in a
number of customer projects. You can pass different version of a model
in EMFStore to EMF Compare and it will show the differences.
There is also a feature request for this with a patch available:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=355145

Cheers,
Maximilian

Thanks Maximilian

Few more doubts

1) I checked link for patch you have given. It has code for changes. Is patch available in the plugin form?

2) Can I know more about EMFCompare.
a) I observed that while showing graph structure in EMFCompare it shows tree w.r.t composition of association. Hence change in attribute type is not shown as diff when typename is changed. Is my understanding correct ?

b) Can I configure the graph it shows in EMFCompare dynamically?

c) Does EMFCompare uses change information is some form for finding differences?
Is change model same for EMFCompare and EMFStore?

Regards,
Asha.

Hi Asha,

The patch contributes a new plugin and some changes to the EMFStore UI
to add the actions.

I would propose you ask the questions about EMF Compare in a new Thread
with a new Topic ([EMF Compare]) in the emf newsgroup
(eclipse.tools.emf) so the EMF Compare team can find them.

The change model of EMF Compare and EMFStore are different. The change
model of EMFStore is optimized for a different use case (client server
synchronization)

Hope that helps!

Maximilian
