Althrough there are porting of the visual editor to ganymede there is no
offical release that i can really relay on and know that if i find a bug
and report it, it will be fixing.

--------- Rant begin ---------
This project seems dead and without any active development, This means
there is NO official and supported free gui editor/designer for eclipse
and leaves me to either migrate to netbeans or handcode which is suitable
for complex projects but not for making simple stuff is its to much work.
gui's are vital components or modern applications and and behind able to
not go out of my way for making a simple text entry box and an ok button
is really something helpful.
So as of now it seems ill be using netbeans to make my simple java
programs.
--------- Rant end ---------

My question is: Why there is no attempt to recruit new developers and get
this project back on track?
You can try placing a message for "looking for new developers" in the
project main page perhaps?

People just like you, who want to use VE, should step up to the plate
and either a) recruit new developers or b) do some coding and submit
patches. That's how open source works -- you can't always rely on
someone else to do all the hard work :-)

The website is in CVS [1] -- please open a bug against the Eclipse
website and submit a patch.

Well it needs thinking on where you can search for developers for this
project.
I am not good enough in java to contribute to this project.

I hope the above statement that you have made helps answer some of the
questions and rants you had about the status of this project. :-)
