Hi BIRT Community,
I have implemented a small ecplise plugin to upload a rptdesign to our reportserver by right clicking it (and then select an upload action).
This works fine in standard eclipse by using either the dropins folder or the update manager.
But how can I add my plugin to RCP Designer?
Update Manager is not available here and the dropins-folder seems not to work.
Does anyone know what I have to do?

Thank you a lot and best regards

Mark

It should just be the plugins folder. Have you tried installing any other plugins? Or just your own?

Hi Michael,
no, this is not working for me. To make sure I didn't have done something wrong I have created another plugin - the normal eclipse Hello World sample. I have exported this using the export wizard.
I have copied the resulting jar file to the dropins-folder and in a second try to the plugin folder of a normal Eclipse installation. Both ways are working, as result there is a new "Hello World" menu.
In the rcp-Designer, both ways are not working. There is no samle menu and in installation details the plugin is not listed.
So what is the best way to enhance the rcp-Designer. If a manual copy of the plugin is not support, is there maybe a way to enable the update manager? Than I could try to provide an update site.

Thanx and best regards

Mark

Sorry. I should have asked this before. What's your BIRT version?

Hi,
I'm using current RCP Designer 4.2.1.
I have attached my second try (sample plugin without code modification from me) as jar.
As described it should enhance the menu by an Hello World sample.

Bye

I'm seeing the same thing as you. I tried your plug-in and I tried one from the recent BIRT Exchange plug-in contest. Neither worked. Let me look into this, a little more, and I'll let you know if I find anything out about why.

Hi,
Thank you for your analysis. I will wait for your results. Maybe it can be fixed in next release...

I'll try in an older version, tomorrow, to see if this is something new, with 4.2.1. If it is, I'll have you log a bug for this.

Hi Michael,
I have tried it in 3.7, in this version it works as expected by just copiing the jar to plugins-folder.
So something seems to be broken from 3.7 -> 4.2.1.

Best regards

Great. Thanks for checking that out. Can you please log a bug for this, in the bugzilla, and put the bug info in here, for future reference? Thanks!
