Hi,

I'm using Eclipse Juno C/C++ (both in Windows 7 and in Ubuntu) and have just added ADT plugin to it. What I'm looking to do next is add in Java Development tools - the JDT plugin - but I'm not sure whether this would be wise or even possible, as I've seen quite a few reports of conflicts and troubles.

If this is possible and does not lead to instability, would it be too greedy of me to try and add Php and javascript plugins too?

I'm a web developer so I would really like to be able to do my work and my learning/experimenting in the one IDE - and Eclipse is the only IDE I know of that seems to have the range to handle these tasks.

Thanks,

You shouldn't worry unduly about this. Eclipse is really a bunch of
plug-ins and you determine which ones beyond the tighter groupings
defined and downloadable from eclipse.org.

I do not tend to do what you want to do, especially with Android tools,
which I keep separate with Eclipse IDE for Java Developers. However, I
do this more out of a personal desire for compartmentalization than
anything else. If you're careful not to use disparate tools in the same
launch, you likely won't incur the simultaneous overhead of so many.

Hi, thanks for the response, I definitely will try it out on another eclipse install I think.

I don't normally use IDEs, as they have a bit of a learning curve but my projects have outgrown gedit/notepad++ and I struggle to pan around the page in vi. So I was thinking having one unified IDE would definitely reduce the amount of "familiarising" I would have to go through.

You can't do better than Eclipse. Best of luck.
