Hi,

I've upgraded the OS on my PC: from Ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04. Now Eclipse is useless.

With the 10.04 version of Eclipse everything worked fine: Java and C++

Now, with the 12.04 version of ubuntu I installed Eclipse, the old projects were imported but:
- syntax-highlighting is no longer available
- I cannot create a new project because File -> New -> Project offers me only General and CVS, no Java or C++

The versions of the software installed:
Eclipse: Indigo (version 3.7.2). installed are:
Eclipse C/C++ development tools. Binary runtime and user documentation.
Plugins for C/C++ library hover help
Eclipse Java development tools (binary runtime and user documentation).

gcc tells me: gcc (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.3-1ubuntu5) 4.6.3
java tells me: java version "1.6.0_24"

What's wrong here? What is missing?

Thanks

How did you install it before and how did you install it this time?

Hi,

I think the problem is solved.

Hee iswhat I did:
- opened a terminal
- switched to root
- started eclipse via the command-line
- in it I played a bit
- closed eclipse
- closed the terminal

When I now start Eclipse I can create a new project in Java, C and C++. I succesfully create a 'hello world'-project in these 3 languages, compiled it and run the code.

I do not know why I had to go this way but now it works......
