On Solaris 10u9, I tried to run both

  1. Eclipse SDK -> Solaris 10 (SPARC/GTK 2) -> http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops4/R-4.2-201206081400/download.php?dropFile=eclipse-SDK-4.2-solaris-gtk.zip
  2. Platform Runtime Binary -> Solaris 10 (SPARC/GTK 2) -> http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops4/R-4.2-201206081400/download.php?dropFile=eclipse-platform-4.2-solaris-gtk.zip

Both the packages were downloaded from: http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops4/R-4.2-201206081400/solPlatform.php

The startup screen of Eclipse Juno appeared, stayed for a while and then disappeared leaving the message below on the console:
Quote:

The program 'Eclipse' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadLength (poly request too large or internal Xlib length erro'.
(Details: serial 487 error_code 16 request_code 18 minor_code 0)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Can anyone suggest any solution?

This problem is not there with Eclipse Indigo (3.7). This can be downloaded from here.
