I've created a Scripted Data Source using an external Java class that works fine on its own, but does not when asked to be part of a Joint Data Set.

I'm skipping over the steps to reproduce, as it exactly follows this ancient BIRT bug: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=206054

The only peculiar thing that takes place is this. From the Edit Data Set window, Previewing works fine. If you click the list of Output Columns, it also appears fine. After clicking OK, though, you get "Script engine error: Type Error [JavaPackage <package name>] is not a function it is object.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

If you drag the joint dataSet into your design window, to create a table, and preview, does it work? Can you attach your report?

Dragging it over does not work, and the little triangle to bring down the members of the data set doesn't work either.

Strangely, while troubleshooting this, I grabbed the example scripted data source from birt-exchange.org and tried it - that worked fine. I'll have to see if it's possible for me to post my report tomorrow when I get back into the office.

Okay, after a bit more digging, I found that if I moved everything in the Data Source Open script to the Data Set Open, it works fine. If that's by design, i guess, let me know?

I'll have to see if there's more information I can dig up here next week. I'll follow up, and if prudent, file a bug report!

Thanks for your interest, and help, if I eventually do something in need of it Smile

Yeah, I typically use the dataSet's Open script for connecting to data. Glad it's working now!
