hi all,
I have never used tptp before and I try test a new web application
deployed in tomcat server 6.x, I downloaded the tptp plugin from the
update site listed in the main page. It seems working when I go through
the tutoral to monitor a demo applicaiton within the plugin.
However I am intrested in profile & monitor the web applicaiton in a
remote host, that means I have to extra work with thins like agent
controler. I went through the helps within the plugin, but sadlly I got
very confused.
Does anyone know if there are useful resources about remote monioring and
profiling a web app in tomcat.
thans in advance.

More specific, the host operationg system is window 2000 server. The
version of tomcat is 6.x and target jvm is 1.6. I have download and deploy
agent controler on the host, which has been tested. I am curious if any
configurations should be made to make the tomcat server profiling enabled,
and what configurations shall be done on to attach to the remote web
application.

I have installed the standalone agent controller on the remote machine
follow the instruction on the website.
I have finished the configurations in the tomcat server and I have seen
TRCXML generated in the catalin_home/bin .

Unfortunately the response times become longer and the trcxml file keeps
growing.

I tried to connect to the remote tomcat server through workbench client
(Genemade) on my machine(xp sp3). I created a new configuration under
'Attach to Agent' and added port 10002 and 10006 for the remote machine. I
could connect to the controller on the remote machine as I passed the
Connection Test, but I didn't seen working agent shown in the 'agent' tab.
I don't know what has gone wrong, have I missed something in the middle?
The controller seems ok as I can run SampleClent from the command line on
the remote machine(WINDOWS 2000).
Thanks in advance for your help.

Ok, I have known that you have to make the agent in either enabled or
controlled mode and you have to read every sentences of the help and piece
them together.
One last question; are there any restrictions of the number of
connection between workbench clients and one particular agent controller?

Hi LSQ,

TPTP ships with WTP integration which enable user to profile on server in
Server view, see below for detail
http://help.eclipse.org/galileo/index.jsp?topic=/org.eclipse .tptp.platform.profile.server.doc.user/tasks/prfserver.xhtml

For remote profiling, insert the JVM argument for profiling as part of the
server startup and use the 'Attach Java process' launch configuration to
attach to the remote server process to start profiling.
