I'm using Eclipse 3.4.2 on Windows with JDK 1.5.
I installed TPTP packages using Help > Software Update.
I quit Eclipse and restarted with with -clean.
Then I chose a program, right-click on it, choose \
Profile> Profile As > Profile Configuration.

There is an error message near the top of Profile Configurations
window that reads "[Monitor]: The launch requires
at least one data collector to be selected."

I found a similar report in this forum but my case is
a little bit different. The Monitor tab has a red X.
If I click on the tab, there is another error message that reads:
IWAT0435E An error occured when connecting to the host.

metadata/.log doesn't record relevant errors.

Am I missing some components?

I forgot to mention that the Monitor tab has no item listed.

Someone told me to install an Agent Controller.
I did that and started ACServer.exe.
Then I do see "Java Profiling" and other agents in the Monitor tab.
But when I click on "Test Availability" I got this error message:
The JVMTI agent org.eclipse.tptp.jvmti is not available.

When I hit "Test Connection" in Preferences's Agent Controller -> Hosts
the connection succeeds.

What plugin do I need to get?

I've just read this help page that says an independent Agent Controller
program is not needed for profiling a program locally.

http://help.eclipse.org/help33/index.jsp?topic=/org.eclipse. tptp.platform.agentcontroller.doc.user/concepts/ac/ciacintro .html

So I stopped the Agent Controller service (I'm on Windows) and tried to
follow the instructions here:

http://help.eclipse.org/help33/index.jsp?topic=/org.eclipse. tptp.platform.agentcontroller.doc.user/concepts/ac/ciacintro .html

but the Monitor tab is empty with an error message in red:
IWATO435E An error occured when connecting to the host.

I think that IAC failed to start automatically.

I also found that the only serviceconfig.xml that exists in my eclipse
installation is:
/plugins/org.eclipse.tptp.platform.ac.win_ia32_4.4.100.v2009 02101418/agent_controller/config/serviceconfig.xml
and its contents is only:
<PluginConfiguration>
</PluginConfiguration>

Is this expected?

Hi Kuro,

Can you check if you have a serviceconfig.xml configured in your
workspace\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.tptp.platform.iac.a dministrator\config?
This is the serviceconfig.xml used by the Integrated Agent Controller
(IAC), while the one in the plug-in's config folder can be empty. Can you
post the serviceconfig.xml contents?

Prior to launching the profile configuration, is there an ACServer.exe
process running? Once you launch the profile configuration dialog, does
the ACServer.exe process start?

Best regards,
Joel
