Hi All,

Has anyone been able to get TPTP 4.5.2 with RAServer to connect and
profile a Java WebStart app using 1.6.0? I have the -agentlibxxxxx as a
java arg for the WebStart app (in the jnlp file) and when it launches I do
not get any errors related to not finding the native driver for agentlib
but no agent shows up found by the Agent Controller.

Is there some verbose mode for RAServer that will show what agents it has
found?

Thanks,
-Tony

Hi Eugene,

I figured that I needed to setup an environment variable for webstart and
the webstart app is found now. But when it starts profiling the app it
terminates the app. In one case RAServer crashed. This was using 1.6.0_13
jre on Windows XP SP2 and using TPTP 4.5.2 all distro.

the new env variable is:
JAVAWS_VM_ARGS

The value for that is:
-agentlib:JPIBootLoader=JPIAgent:server=enabled;CGProf

Thanks,
-Tony

Hi Eugene,

It appears some webstart apps get terminated and some do not. I am not
sure what the common denonominator is yet. It might be native libs being
used is my first guess so far.

Hi Tony,

Did you setup the variables (TPTP_AC_HOME, JAVA_PROFILER_HOME, and PATH) for
profiling agent libraries to load in the same shell sesssion of your
webstart process? How did it crash and any error log ?

Eugene

Hi Eugene,

Yes, I did all that and simple webstart apps work fine. I have one at work
that our vendor developed that fails by not showing it is detected even
after I reset my PC that has the AC on it.
I do have another webstart app that has the same symptoms that is
available over the internet. If you want to see if it exibits the same
problem for you it is at:

http://www.myuniportal.com/download.php

Just download it and see if you can connect to the agent and if so does
TPTP cause a termination once it starts profiling. It is my app and I can
make changes to it to support profiling if needed.

Also, I noticed that both apps also use extended jnlp's but I suspect the
problem might have nothing to do with that.

Regards,
-Tony
