Hi,

  1. Running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.8 (Tikanga)
  2. Created the environment variable ECLIPSE_HOME
  3. Added the path to java in $ECLIPSE_HOME/eclipse.ini

When I launch eclipse, I see the Galileo splash screen, followed by the dialog box that prompts me for the Workspace location. When I click "OK" I see the events loading in the Galileo splash screen, but suddenly eclipse crashes with this output:

[root@bftest eclipse]# ./eclipse

These three files are produced:

  2. Snap.20121102.175510.11474.0003.trc

I tried to upload these files to the forum, but their size was too large.

Thanks in advance,

I found an obscure reference using Google to this article:

bugs.archlinux.org/task/23392#comment73883

When I added this line to $ECLIPSE_HOME/eclipse.ini, I finally was able to launch Eclipse.

-Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.XULRunnerPath==/usr/lib/xulrunner-2.0/

Newbie here. In a stage of learning, I can only thank you for the feedback.
