Hello,

I have a problem to configure Profile configuration.
In the monitor tab I get message: "IWAT0435E An error occured when
connecting to the host."
I am trying to run Eclipse Application.

Thanks for help,

I already find the answer by myself.

I needed to download Agent Controller Runtime, install it and the run
ACServer.exe on my computer.
Then application monitoring is done by that Agent Controller and everything
can work.

Hi Jan,

Agent Controller for localhost profiling is optional since TPTP 4.4.1. Which
TPTP version are you using?
There is an Integrated Agent Controller(IAC) shipping in TPTP package which
will automatically start/stop on demand for profiling session. If you would
like to try using the IAC, try shut down Eclipse workbench, stop any AC
server running on your machine (ACServer.exe) as well as any dangling
java.exe that may have started by AC but not stopped properly. Then start
Eclipse workbench, and try profile, the IAC should be started for your
automatically and you should see an ACServer.exe started on your system task
manager to support the profiling session.

Hi Eugene,

Me & my colleagues use version 4.5.1.
Some of my colleagues have same problem as I have, to others TPTP works fine
even without ACServer.exe running.

Hi Jan,

Could you try shut down Eclipse workbench, and kill any ACServer.exe running
and any java.exe dangling. Then try restart Eclipse workbench and profile to
see if it helps? I assume you are running on Windows platform.

Hi Eugene,

It helped me. After killing ACServer.exe it worked again.

But I found some problem in "Profiling monitor" view, where I had previously
removed some monitored application or I just wanted to click on some
application to remove it, then this view gets frozen. SO you can't do
anything and you notice that view toolbar strangely moved down.

BTW: it would be really nice to have opportunity to find referenced objects
for memory leaks.
I would also like to find all places + call stacks from where leaking
objects were created. I would use for doing that some library like AspectJ.
If it would be reasonably fast. But I think it's good idea to provide such
feature.

Also a nice feature would be to tell application when you are starting to
profile it, if you want immediately start monitoring or you will start
monitoring by yourself later (like unpausing stopped monitoring).

BR,
Jan

Hi Jan,

Glad to know it works for you now.

There is an track object reference option available under Java 1.5+ agent in
memory analysis. Select Memory analysis and click on 'Edit Option' to enable
such option. Profiler will then track and collect object reference
information in the Object Allocation view. Select any object in the first
tab and its corresponding references are shown in the second tab.

Automatic monitoring is also any option available in a Java profiler
selection, you can Edit Option on a Java profiler and uncheck the
'automatically start monitor' option as needed.

Thanks a lot for your suggestion. Would you please log your enhancement
suggestion in TPTP bugzilla for future consideration also allows the
community to vote for your suggestion.
