As long as I can remember Eclipse has been crashing like there is no tomorrow when authoring a comment.

Currently I'm using eclipse-jee-indigo-SR1-linux-gtk on Ubuntu 12.04. I think MyLyn is causing this because it occurs only when authoring a comment. Eclipse just disappears without notice or error message. When this happens Eclipse does spit out a log file named like hs_err_pid4553.log in the working directory.

Because of the frequent crashing I sort of have the practice now of editing outside Eclipse or keeping comments very short.

I am using the Bugzilla connector. Maybe it is related to the connector?

What to do? What can I do to improve stability of Eclipse.

Hi

I've been experiencing the same problem for some time... as far as I
remember this should have disappeared with Juno (at least, I'm not
experiencing this problem anymore)...

cheers
Lore

Hi,

that sounds similar to this bug which can be resolved by updating the JVM:

348068: JVM crash in AbstractTaskHyperlinkDetector.getTaskRepository():
guarantee(x_compare_res != Constant::not_comparable) failed: incomparable
constants in IfOp
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=348068

If the hs_err files are showing a different error, please open a new bug and
attach the error files.

Thanks,

Steffen
