Hi,

I've searched the groups, google, etc, and nothing I've found has helped
me.

I'm running Eclipse Version: 3.3.2 Build id: M20080221-1800 under Windows
XP. I've installed the most recent, as of last week, TPTP plugins from
the Europa discovery site.

I create a server, my local tomcat installation on the same machine I'm
running Eclipse. I use "take control of local installation". Just to be
safe, I (re)define

JAVA_PROFILER_HOME
C:\eclipse\plugins\org.eclipse.tptp.platform.jvmti.runtime_4 .4.100.v200804021410\agent_files\win_ia32

TPTP_AC_HOME
C:\eclipse\plugins\org.eclipse.tptp.platform.ac.win_ia32_4.4 .1.v200709261752\agent_controller

And have it appended to native environment.

Server starts up fine for both run/debug. In the profile dialog, I create
a new "Apache Tomcat" based upon the server above. When I launch the
profiling and select the pre JRE 1.5 tools, everything works fine, more or
less. However, if I select JRE 1.5 or greater tools, I get:

Error occurred during initialization of VM
agent library failed to init: JPIBootLoader

I've tried adding -agentlib... to vm args in launch parameters for the
server, etc, nothing has worked. FWIW, I'm completely new using the TPTP
tools, and, again, I'm trying to do this with the IAC, I guess, since both
my eclipse and the tomcat installation are on the same machine.

Any help about how to troubleshoot this would be greatly appreciated -
also, doing the tutorial included with the TPTP tools, I was able to use
the JRE 1.5 or better profiling tools.

Thanks,

Jay Roberts

Hi, Jay

You can find useful information at the Eclipse Help site.
Please take a look at
http://help.eclipse.org/ganymede/index.jsp?topic=/org.eclips e.tptp.platform.doc.user/tasks/teprofsa.htm

You didn't mentioned value of PATH variable. Profiler library directories
also should be added to it.

Did you mange to profiler "Hello world" application from Eclipse?

Thanks,
Alex.
