Hello Alphonse,
we've had the request for a Terminal connected to the Local
Shell before on the Mailing List, see
http://dev.eclipse.org/mhonarc/lists/dsdp-tm-dev/msg01259.ht ml
Unfortunately it didn't make its way into bugzilla yet, so I'd
appreciate if you could file an enhancement request. Some help for
implementing a "Local" Terminal connector is also on
http://dev.eclipse.org/newslists/news.eclipse.dsdp.tm/msg001 85.html
As mentioned on the mailing list message above, Wicked Shell is an
alternative you can use for a local shell, although it does not provide
a Terminal. Of course you can also connect to the local host via Telnet
or SSH - but I agree that a "real" local connection would be preferable.
For future collaboration with Wicked Shell, see
http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/TM_Future_Planning
The other approach which would involve RSE is using the existing RSE
"Local" subsystem and replace the Command View with a Terminal, perhaps
doing so optionally. This request is already covered in bugzilla
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=170910
Contributions for either the one or the other approach would be more
than welcome!
Thanks,

At this time I use the SSH connector for that purpose but yes it would
be great if there is a local one.

That would be nice too, personally I prefer a terminal because of the
fact that there isn't command completion with a command view.

At first view, implementing a Local Terminal require some knowledge of
the Terminal API and I don't have many time at the moment to spent in
that but when I find the time for it I would happily make such contribution.
Thanks,
Alphonse
