Sorry about this question. But!

Normally i use Google to find solutions for my Problems with Eclipse. If i found nothing, i use this Board to ask questions about my Problems with Eclipse. But when i see that more and more Questions (not only from me) in this Board are unanswered i ask me which effort this Forum has for a Eclipse User?

Is this the great OpenSource Community? I think not!

Sorry about that

A little frustrated User of a buggy Eclipse from Release to Release.

Axel, I've looked at your posts, and it seems there are responses to them. I'm not sure what the issue is?

Eclipse and the community have worked for me for 6+ years now. I have no
complaints and I contribute too. Just what are you suggesting?

Is what you're failing to figure out how to do a little bit advanced or
off the beaten path from middle of the road usage? (I don't have quick
and easy access to your posts for analysis.)

Most of the questions I see going begging for answers don't even belong
in this forum and I try to take the time to steer their authors in
better directions. Many should be referred to the "How to ask questions
the smart way" site, and I've done that on occasion, but doing that
usually makes me a "dickhead" so I refrain and so do other respondents.

Other questions that don't get answered may be on topics no one feels
competent to answer (often my case) who are monitoring or that suffer
from problems like a lack of information, being too vague, being too
deep to answer in a short or moderate amount of time. ("Ask questions
the smart way.")

These latter require the author to eat the elephant one spoonful at a
time, roll up his sleeves and dig in a little for himself before
unleashing a plea to "do my homework for me" and expecting quick help
from a forum like this.

On the contrary, major Java (and even other kinds of) software is
written more in Eclipse than any other IDE and for good reason. Try to
write real software in other IDEs to see if you can even do it. There's
IntelliJ, sure, pay their price if you wish, it's real good. There's
NetBeans, much easier to use, but correspondingly less flexible and
powerful. Etc.

It's true that more people could give back than do, by answering
questions and by filing reports in Bugzilla, but there is no requirement
to do so. And the code contributors surely have their hands full fixing
those bugs.

I'm not sure what slamming the Eclipse community can really accomplish;
it's not going to wake up those who don't give back since they're not
here to read it in the first place. I'm not personally offended, but I
do wonder what you're trying to accomplish. I see two paths to walk
here: stay and help, or hit the road.
