I am using Eclipse Juno EE and I can not install the Ecore Tools SDK. I have tried everything, searched everywhere and I cant find a solution. I tried via the Install New Software Manager, the Market, I even downloaded the archive file(when I try to install it with the archive from the site it tells me that no software was found). While searching, I found that article: http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/t/354109/ where this guy "Cedric Brun" gives a link for instalation ( http://download.eclipse.org/modeling/emft/ecoretools/updates/1.1/201205140421 ). I tried the link, installed the SDK(at least I think so), but now when I click on New... There is no Ecore Tools folder with options, and I can't create Ecore Diagrams. I reinstalled it from this link - http://download.eclipse.org/releases/juno , but I still can't see it when I click "New"... If it's important, here is the tutorial which I am following(step 3.1 requieres to make a diagram) vogella.com/articles/EclipseEMF/article.html Do someone have a solution to that problem?

I have a same problem. I've installed "Diagram Editor for Ecore (SDK)" from http://download.eclipse.org/releases/luna. But it's neither possible to create a new ecorediag, nor to edit an existing one.

Hi,

The 2.0 stream provides slightly different ways to create diagrams on top of ecore files.
Right click on your .ecore file and pick the wizard "Representations files" and click finish.

I had several users chiming in lately not figuring out how to create the diagrams, I just tracked a bug to find a way to be more consistent here regarding the previous version.

I really don't get some kind of diagram to be displayed either. I tried it the way the sequence of screenshots (unfortunately without explaination) under https://www.eclipse.org/ecoretools/doc/ suggests (below the headline "Creating diagrams from an existing Ecore"). This is what I did or happend:

  • it took some time to realise that I have to switch to the new Modeling perspective before some tooling is active
  • right-clicked an existing ecore file and invoked New -> Representations File -> Finish
  • popup opens where to select viewpoints
  • selected Design because the tool tip suggests that it is used to design ecore models
  • pressed Ok, then the popup closed but the wizard is still open although I pressed finished before
  • I'm in a loop because the wizard doesn't close
  • pressing Cancel at least closes the wizard
  • I now have a new .aird
  • it can be collapsed in the Model Explorer (children are my metamodel and the ecore metamodel itself)
  • right-clicking the aird file and pressing Viewpoints Selection results in nothing
  • each time I do this my previously made selection is empty again.

So how can I use the Ecore diagram editor correctly?

Should I ask this in a separate thread?

It looks like the wizard failed for some reasons. Is there anything in your error-log view which gets added then ?

There are a couple of fixes distributed already, did you give a try to the latest maintenance stream ?
