Eclipse Juno Slowness[ 2 votes ]
1.Agree 2 / 100%
2.Disagree 0 / 0%

I am a long time eclipse user and have upgraded every June with a new release. After using Juno for the past 2 months, I am frustrated to the point of ditching eclipse and switching to IntelliJ completely. I feel sad to have come to this decision, being an ardent fan of eclipse for a decade. It is unfortunate that eclipse has lost its efficiency and has become bulky and sluggish, hampering productivity rather than helping it. I know I am not alone in this and many of my team members have made the switch already.

High time eclipse community steps up and salvages the IDE before losing majority of its users to other platforms.

Thanks

Hi

I think I already replied to your request on the bug but for those not
following it. Why are you not using 3.8.0 and install stuff using the
update-manager? I would at least follow this path first but it's up to you.

I'll repeat that we are working to fix the problems some/many of you are
reporting, some are addressed in 4.2.1, others are planned for 4.2.2 and
some have to wait for 4.3.0.

You can get it from:
http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/eclipse3x.html

We naturally welcome any patches, thread/heap analyzes, ... to track the
reason for the performance problems.

Thanks Tom and sorry for the duplicate posting (came across the bugzilla forum after posting this). I can't go back to 3.8.0 because of some of my plug-ins not working, which worked in Juno.

Like you said, hopefully 4.3 will fix most of the performance woes.

Sorry but which plugin is not working in 3.8.0?

Indigo - was 3.7.0 and 4.1.0
Juno - is 3.8.0 and 4.2.0

So any plugin you can install in 4.2.0 (the default download) you are
able to install into 3.8.0!

.... but once more why does this force you to install Eclipse Juno 4.2
why can't you not install Eclipse Juno 3.8!

Dan,

Which platform are you on? Did you try 3.8 and 4.2?

Eclipse using looong time to save files.,

I have for ex.,

sat custom content type to *.tml -> html, so i can write html in *.tml files.

Every time i save the file *.tml, eclipse seems to use very long time.
I tired also to turn off all the validation, but with no change..

But when i sat content-type *.tml to text file, the save operation goes fast.,
