I want to add a simple function to EGit.

so, Is it possible to modify the source and create a jar file(plugin) in My Eclipse? (without Contributing Patches)

If you modify the existing source, then you need to make it available to
the public, normally by attaching it to a bug.

If you want to experiment and build a modified EGit follow the build instructions [1]
which create a p2 repository you can use to install your modified version from.
