p2 and UAC [message #900605]

Is there anyone that can help me setup an RCP application on Windows 7 / Vista when the application is installed in \Program Files directory? The user is not running as admin and p2 is failing with can't find update sites. When the same install is run targeting a non-controlled directory, the update works correctly.

My google searches have returned others with the same problem but no clear answer on how to resolve.

This is because p2 does not find the update sites listed in the read only folder. You can try applying the patch attached to bug https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=249133 but at this point I have not tried it though the author says that he used this in production.
