Where are the code snippets? [message #898756] Fri, 27 July 2012 13:02 Go to next message

I've been working until now with eclipse indigo, where I used the code snippet view. It was located in the "general" section when opening a new view.

Now, in Juno, it's not there anymore. I found a view called "templates", and though having the same icon it doesn't work at all.

Is it a plugin I can install? If so, where can I find it?

Hello,

The snippets view is available after you have installed the "Eclipse Java Web Developer Tools".

I must apologize, I had to correct my previous statement.

best regards
Rico

Thank you very much, that's it!

I installed those web developer tools, and all my old snippets are there again. Meaning I can work now with the latest eclipse version.

Thanks a lot!

The 'Snippets' view should be available with every distribution.
Window -> Show View -> Other -> General -> Snippets
The default location for the view will be in the lower part-stack with the console and related views.

@Enrico R., thank you very much, worked like a charm.

@Joseph Carroll It seems that the 'Snippets' are not inside the Classic distribution I was using.

Hi, why don't you try Snip2Code plugin?

http://marketplace.eclipse.org/node/478177

It is a snippets manager that allows you to store your snippets on a cloud service so that your snippets are automatically synced in all your Eclipse installations. You may also share them with your team-mates, as well as find cool stuff from other coders of Snip2Code community.
