Dear Virgo-Users

We are currently using "Virgo Server for Apache Tomcat 3.0.3" for our web based application. After reading the Virgo 3.5 release notes, I wonder if we could use Virgo Nano Web as well.

Can someone explain in a few words, what the main differences between the full blown Virgo Tomcat release and the Nano Web release are? What I have seen, Gemini Web is based on Tomcat as well.

Our web bundle uses mainly Spring MVC, JSP with JSTL and Tiles 2. Would it be possible to run such a WAB in Nano Web?

Best regards,
James

Hi James,

Glyn's blog pointed by Villy will help you understand the structural and the non-functional differences.
In terms of functionality both servers are similar - it is all OSGi inside just with a slightly different provisioning - so the technology you mentioned should run just fine on both, especially if you already got it running on VSFAT.

Best Regards
Bobby

Have you seen the feature comparison matrix?

For posterity, please use this link to my blog: http://underlap.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/virgo-350-with-nano-technology.html.

Thanks. That shed some light on what the differences between the versions are. Esp. the feature matrix is useful.

Best regards,
James
