Default to start profiling with agent detached? [message #118770] Thu, 29 November 2007 14:31 Go to next message

Hi,

I really like the IAC, but I was wondering if there is a way to setup a
configuration so that if I start profiling, the agent does not attach on
start up.

Here's my situation -- I have an app that I want to profile. It has a
really long startup (which, is not my current problem, actually). I
find that whenever I want to profile it, I click the Profile button,
then as soon as eclipse switches over to the Profiling perspective, I
click on "detach from agent" -- so my program will run at normal speed
until I get to the place I want to actually do my profiling work.

I get to where I want to do profiling, setting everything up -- I attach
to the agent, collect my data, then detach from the agent.

Is there a way to setup the profile configuration such that, on startup,
the agent is detached -- not attached -- to the process being profiled?

Thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg,
You can launch your application manually with profiler options.
And attach to the agent at any time you want.
Please see details in profiler's readme.txt file.
Regards,
Igor
