Is the Visual Editor group planning on adding a column select feature? The
text in the column select can be deleted or edited but only the text in the
selected column field would be touched.

Could you please be a little more specific? We already allow changing
the column header's text?

Or are you asking about us helping by creating a cell editor and putting
this in your code so that you can change the text of cell in a
table/tree at runtime?

Rich,

The column select feature allows you to select text in a column verses
selecting text in lines.

You can currently select lines of text for the cut, copy and paste
operations with the left mouse button.

The editor I use allows me to select a column of text for the cut, copy and
paste operations with the right mouse button.

Search and replace is also restricted to the selected text, line or column.

If you are talking about straight text selection, then that is part of
Eclipse's java editor. It has nothing to do with the Visual Editor. The
Visual Editor uses the Eclipse java editor for the text pane of the editor.
