Dear BIRT team,

Thanks for this great project.
I'm starting some enterprise software project and hope to make use of your
work.
I need to know your time plan and the initial code availability.

Thanks & Best Regards

Ahmad,

Thank you for your interest in BIRT. Our high-level target is to deliver a
Release 1.0 version of the Eclipse Report Designer (ERD) and Eclipse Report
Engine (ERE) around March 2005. We will be posting more information very
soon on what we are targeting for the 1.0 release in terms of
capabilities -- but our goal is to deliver functionality that will be very
useful for common report types. We will also be posting more detail on
milestones between now and the March 1.0 release.

What type of project are you considering BIRT for and what sort of
capabilities do you need?

Paul,
I think people are eager to contribute to this project and would
appreciate to be able to do it as soon as possible. On a product life
March 05 is not that long but I think BIRT would benefit from people as
soon as the first contribution is published even if it's not already
version 1.0.
When will you be releasing the first source code to the BIRT community?

Thanks,
Daniel Da Cunha

Dan,

We are in the process of getting the Eclipse CVS repository up and running
for BIRT right now. We expect to be releasing the first source code to the
BIRT community later this month, and we will follow this with incremental
code releases as we lead up to BIRT 1.0.

I'm interested in understanding how different people intend to use BIRT --
what is your envisaged usage scenario?
