I'm having problems acquiring or opening dumps with Memory Analyzer version 1.1.1.201108240735, for an Apache Tomcat 6 process running under IBM Java version:
java version "1.6.0"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build pwi3260sr7-20091217_01(SR7))
IBM J9 VM (build 2.4, JRE 1.6.0 IBM J9 2.4 Windows 7 x86-32 jvmwi3260sr7-20091
4_49398 (JIT enabled, AOT enabled)
J9VM - 20091214_049398
JIT - r9_20091123_13891
GC - 20091111_AA)
JCL - 20091202_01

I have set the JVM option as follows, the Eclipse run configuration:

-Xdump:system+heap+java:events=systhrow+user,filter=java/lang/OutOfMemoryError,request=exclusive+prepwalk+compact

When I try to acquire a heap dump, I get the following error message:
Error opening heap dump 'core.20120422.114612.7556.0001.dmp'. Check the error log for further details.
Error opening heap dump 'core.20120422.114612.7556.0001.dmp'. Check the error log for further details.
Not a HPROF heap dump (java.io.IOException)
Not a HPROF heap dump

Please help!

It sounds like you don't have the IBM DTFJ feature installed.
See http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/MemoryAnalyzer#System_Dumps_and_Heap_Dumps_from_IBM_Virtual_Machines and IBM DTFJ feature installation instructions.
