I have a maven project and use mvn eclipse:eclipse -Dwtpversion=2.0 to convert it to a eclipse project. it compiles well but when I debug/run as server, it fails. I found no file was copied to wtpwebapps.

Try the eclipse.webtools newsgroup. That is where Dynamic Web is discussed.
