When building a project for the first time since launching Eclipse, it builds successfully.

However, when trying to build the next time, I get:

Errors occurred during the build.
Errors running builder 'CDT Builder' on project '<PROJECT NAME>'.
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException

Where <PROJECT NAME> is as it sounds.

As a workaround, I find that right clicking on the .cpp source file in project manager, Properties > C/C++ Build and clicking 'apply defaults', and then retrying the build will work. But you need to keep repeating this process every time you wish to build.

I am running Eclipse Indigo under Ubuntu Oneiric 11.10.

Anyone know if this is just a bug, or how it can be corrected?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Can you post the full call stack of the exception? It should be in the Error log. Which version of CDT are you using? There is a bug in 8.0.2 when you try to build a second time a project that contains special characters, see https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=377295

Check the error log for errors and paste the errors here. To open the Error log, click on Window -> Show view -> Error log (it might be in Others...)

This is indeed bug 377295, it's fixed in the next version (8.1).

You can get a nighly build of 8.1.0 with this update site:
http://download.eclipse.org/tools/cdt/builds/juno/nightly

You will need Eclipse 3.8 or 4.2 to install CDT 8.1.
