Agent Controller for localhost doesn't work if proxy enabled in Eclipse [message #105810] Thu, 19 July 2007 14:42

I had a devil of a time getting Eclipse to connect to the Agent
Controller. Through other tools in Windows, I could see it start the
ACServer.exe process and that it opened up the port Eclipse was trying to
connect on.

The problem turned out to be that
Windows/Preferences/General/NetworkConnections had a proxy enabled. I
must use a proxy from inside our firewall with Eclipse.

However, it was trying to use the proxy server to get to localhost:10002
to connect to the agent controller.

I even have localhost in the "No Proxy for:" list.

Turning off the proxy allowed profiling to connect to the localhost agent
controller.

This seems like a bug to me. When I connected to the agent controller
port with telnet, it showed me binary gook. It doesn't appear to me that
it is even an HTTP or FTP like protocol. So, I don't think it will work
through a proxy server anyway.

This looks like a bug to me.
