Hi,

I am seeking to do one of the following (whichever is quicker/easier)

A) Convert a BIRT 2.6 report design back to a BIRT 2.5 report design.

B) Upgrade the Troux BIRT reporting engine to align with BIRT 2.6 report designs.

Can you explain briefly what files control the Troux reporting engine? Are they tied to a specific version of Troux, or can they be managed (or upgraded) independently?

Will BIRT 3.7.2 be backwards compatible with 2.6 and 2.5 reports?

Many thanks

I am not familiar with the Troux BIRT reporting solution. Do you have a
link we can look at? BTW 3.7.2 should be able to run 2.6 and 2.5 reports.

Hi Jason,

I was under the impression that Troux BIRT reporting was the same as BIRT Eclipse. BIRT is just part of the Troux suite which you probably already are aware of.

Unfortunately we don't have a link as it is hosted on our internal network. Is there any files which i can upload to you or extract the data out of which may make it easier for you?

I did see the latest version of BIRT 3.7.2 which i might test out and see if it works.

Thanks

Can you give some more detail on how you run the reports? Are you using
the BIRT viewer or is this done with the BIRT APIs? BTW if your reports
are not using anything specific to 2.6 you most likely can change the
header in the report to the 2.5 version and it will work.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

We run the reports using BIRT APIs.

I am not sure if there is anything specific to the 2.6 reports. The guy who creates the reports is away today, so i will find out about this and let you know.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Jason,

The reports that are created were in 2.5 and so we cannot run them in 2.6 therefore all the reports are only using the 2.5 features.

Do you think the 3.7.2 version will run the 2.5 reports?

Thanks

Why will 2.6 not run your 2.5 reports?

The developer has rebuilt the reports back in BIRT 2.5 so this is no longer required anymore.

Many thanks for all your help
