It says I must drag and drop something into my workspace, when all I want to do is download PyDev... and do I also have to download Eclipse as well, and how much disk space will it take up, I've only got 12K, and can I install it on an external drive, or does it have to work from my root hard drive?

My eyes are not so good, and I tend to not see links staring at my face, so can someone just send me the download link. I'm running on a Mac OS-X Snow Leopard.

Regards
John

Does this link not tell all?

http://pydev.org/developers.html

Incidentally, I don't think PyDev is supported in these forums; it's not
Eclipse, but something built atop Eclipse and has a separate community
for support.

I see - I didn't know there was a separate support group for this. That URL you sent me looks promising, but do I first have to download Eclipse first, install it? Or does this package already include it?

This appears to only run under Windows, is this true? It's referencing directories for Windows, and not Mac. Is there one for the Mac, or does Eclipse only support WinBlows, and I did discover I also need eclipse first, so I assume I have to DL and install that first.

As already mentioned, PyDev is a third party tool. The Eclipse forums
do not provide support for PyDev. You will need to pursue your
questions using the PyDev support channels.

Ok, but I still have not gotten my questions answered about eclipse, is there a mac Client available for it? Or does it only run under Linux and WinBlows?

Sure. Typically for something like this (Android development tools work
this way as do most modern plug-ins for Eclipse), you down-load the
Eclipse package that's closest to what you want to do (in Helios, there
was a special package for PHP development; apparently Indigo, the
latest, doesn't do that, for example; there hasn't been one for Python
development specifically). Then, you launch Eclipse, go to Help ->
Install New Software and indicate the extra stuff you want by way of a
special update URL given by the originator of the package. In the case
of PyDev, I didn't see one, but I didn't squint real hard or spend much
time reading up on it.

If the tools are very old and unsupported, you * * might * * be able to
take their plug-in and drop it into the eclipse/dropins folder. As I
say, I don't know anything about PyDev per se, but I'll bet there's a
Google group, mailing list or something like that to help you out.
Python is very popular.

Hope this helps.

Yes, Macintosh guys are fierce champions of Eclipse and many in this and
other Eclipse forums us it all day every day, maybe even to do Python
development.

I just found this tutorial on PyDev. Lars Vogel's site may be the tippy
top Eclipse tutorial site. He rules in my opinion. Check it out:

I'm just looking for the link where I can download Eclipse for the Mac, plus pyDev plugins with Django.
I'll check out Lars web site, Thanx for the tip.
