Saving a file gives me an hourglass and top shows 100% CPU for about 7
seconds. Very consistent behavior. This is for even small files, with
minor changes. While the hour glass is up, I can't continue editing
another file, or switch files, or any other action.

Eclipse setup to use 1.5 Gigs of the 8 on the box.

Saves of C++ files are instantaneous. All files on local disk.

My PHP checkout is pretty large (like.... really large), so maybe that is
the cause. PDT versions before 2.0 never had this problem. Saw similar
problems with 2.0 release version. Other people around me have similar
issues and have yet to upgrade to 2.X

Willing to help debug this issue, but 7+sec to save a file is kind of a
killer :(

Code folding is off. Variable highlighting is off.

Using Eclipse 3.4.2, PDT 2.1 M6 64bit linux. Pretty minimal install (C++
and PHP only. All packages updated)

This seems to be a common bug:
