What is the relation between @Preference and PreferenceStore?
Can I use @Preference instead of PreferenceStore?

It seems @Preference is not used in org.eclipse.e4.demo.simpleide.*, though.

It's used in the model editor, check out http://git.eclipse.org/c/e4/org.eclipse.e4.tools.git/tree/bundles/org.eclipse.e4.tools.emf.ui/src/org/eclipse/e4/tools/emf/ui/internal/common/ModelEditor.java for an example.
