Trying to install the C++ plugins for eclipse. I'm at the end of the plug in installation and I'm trying to accept the licence agreements to install the plug in, when I select the "accept" radio button the "next" option is still unavailable. Any ideas why this is, I don't think I've selected any plug ins that require special licences, I think all the C/C++ plug ins are open source. Any help would be appreciated.
The items i'm trying to install are C/C++ Development tools, C/C++ Development tools SDK, C/C++ Library API Documentation Hover help(incubation) CDT Visual C++ Support, XL C/C++ Compiler support.
Should I leave any of these out?

Cheers

Should I re-install eclipse because I need to use a platform called spoofax on it as well and I need it to be running properly to install the spoofax plug in.

If you're going to the trouble of re-installing Eclipse, why not install
Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers to start with? You'll get exactly the
right stuff for C/C++ development and you can add, as has been the topic
of discussion in this thread.

Best of luck.

If I reinstall it with the C++ version, will I be able to install Java plugins, or is there a version that will run C, C++ Java, php, html, ASP. ? I need all of these for my course?

Yes, but you'll run into the same uncertainties. Eventually, you'll want
to continue asking for a hand here if Help -> Install New Software isn't
working for you. Best practice is NOT to download anything and try to
put it in the dropins folder. That's old school (although I'm pretty
sure there are still plug-ins that are distributed that way).

I maintain several Eclipse installations as I wouldn't be tempted to mix
C/C++ development with Java. The Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers will
have all the web stuff and more than you could want for web development.
To that you could add PHP, for example.

It's hard to see why you'd ever be tempted to mix C/C++ with Java, but
hey, I don't know and I have tunnel vision.

Many like to do it all in one Eclipse; others, including me, prefer
separate Eclipses. For example, I won't mix Android with JEE
development, so I keep separate Eclipses, separate workspaces, etc., but
that's how I roll.

As for ASP (bite thy tongue!), I don't know that I've heard of doing
that in Eclipse. If I had to do it, and somehow decided not to slash my
wrists beforehand, I'd probably just use VisualStudio, which I know from
having used it to be a pretty damn good IDE. (It's just the wrong altar
to worship at.)

;-)

Best of luck,

Russ

Ok I'm going to try this approach. The only platform I NEED eclipse for is an obscure one called spoofax. Anyone heard of this, if so, is there a version of eclipse dedicated to it? Or again do I face the same issues with plug-ins?

The only reason I wanted C++ , php and Java in the same eclipse package, was I just thought it would be easier/save space that way. If you think it would be better to start again using separate IDEs for different programs,I'll go with that. I'm not going to argue with you (you know more than me). I was always going to use Visual Basic for ASP, don't know why I put that in there?

You'll find just as many who like to dump it all into the same Eclipse
as those of us who keep it separate. It's probably more religious than real.

OK unfortunately I need eclipse classic for my spoofax platform so I'm back to square one.
Does anyone want to give me the names of only the essential plugins for java and C++ as I was trying to add about 5 or 6 from the list. maybe if I only add the critical ones it might work, but I 'm not sure what these are.

Any suggestions?
