Hi everybody.

I have a question concerning XULRunner and (Firefox-)extensions.
We integrate XULRunner as the HTML-rendering engine for the Browser Widget into our application. The concept is to deliver a XULRunnner together with the application in order to be independent of what we find on the users machine.

To enable some nice feature we need to add an extension to the XUL-installation, wich is delivered with our software and have it enabled by default. So no "Please install Add-On"-workflow for the user.

I was browsing around and found some hints:

https://developer.mozilla.org/en/XULRunner_tips?rdfrom=https%3A%2F%2Fwiki.mozilla.org%2Findex.php%3Ftitle%3DXULRunner%3AFaq%26redirect%3Dno

https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Extension_Packaging

Both read very promising, but I could not get any success yet.
From reading the second text I thought, the alternative "Including add-ons in a customized application" sounded like what we need, but this does not seem to work. Or in other words: What is the <appdir> in the context of an integrated xul-runner in SWT?

XULRunner in use is: 1.9.2.19

Thanks!

I dont have the time to read the links you have listed, but I just want to mention that we have integrated/packaged a XULRunner with our app and are using (self-developed) extensions with it. IIRC, what we have done is put them into the components directory

regards, Chris
