While travelling to and from my work, I quite happily use Eclipse indigo on my Samsung NC110 (running Fedora 16 with the Gnome desktop)

I don't know if this is a topic for the Gnome development-team or for Eclipse developers but I have found two dialog-screens which are not fully functional.

When I want to create a new class, I would expect that below the interfaces-box, I would see a question on which method stubs I want to use or a question if I want to create comments.
As you can see in NewClass.png these questions are not showed and when you look very good, just below the button 'Toevoegen' (which means Add), you can see a line.

When I place the cursor somewhere in this dialog and I hold the Alt-button, I would expect that I could move this dialog upwards. What moves however is is the main Eclipse-window, below this dialog.

Another dialog which suffers from the same problem is 'Install new software'. I miss the box in which I can select the items that I want to install.

On Gnome, I have installed clearlooks-compact-gnome-theme-1.5-4.fc15 which is meant for small displays.

Are there workarounds for my problem?

Alt - left mouse is what you need to use to move the window up. Hold down Alt and then click anywhere on the Dialog. You can then extend the bottom of the window. I have to do this on my netbook running Ubuntu. If Alt-left mouse isn't moving the dialog but the underlying window, that would likely be a Gnome issue since the Window manager is responsible for moving the dialogs/windows not Eclipse.

I know the trick with Alt-left mouse (I assumed that it was clear that one had to push the button).

I'll try to report to the gnome team that the underlying window is moving and not the upper window with the dialog.

But the error with the dialog itself is an Eclipse problem. As you can see the middle section from the dialog has gone so even when I move the dialog with alt-left button, I still can't reach that part of the dialog.

After you move the dialog up, you have to grab the bottom and expand the
dialog down. This will allow the compressed sections to be displayed.

Its a pain, but works.

I have tested with other applications but there, there are no problems when I use alt-left mouse to move the dialog-window.
It is only in Eclipse that not the dialog-window but the underlying main-window moves.
And since I cannot move the dialog-window, I can' t expand the bottom down Crying or Very Sad

I think I figured out what is happening. The new Gnome Shell has a
default setting where modal dialog boxes are attached to the main window
of the application. This is supposed to make sure that it keeps them
together if they are moved. However, it appears that the alt-left click
behavior doesn't work with these modal dialog boxes.

You can separate the modal dialog boxes from the main window by turning
off a gnome config setting.

You can turn the setting off using the command line or gconf-editor.
The path to the setting is desktop/gnome/shell/windows/attach_modal_dialogs.

You have to logout after turning off the setting. Once you do, modal
dialogs will be separate windows and you will be able to alt-click to
grab and move them.
