Hi Cecilia,

thank you for your posting and sorry for the delay in my answer! Currently there is no out-of-the-box solution to run EMFStore in an AS, although we have thought about doing so for quite some time. Is this a requirement for you to be able to use the technology? I would be able to help you in accomplishing such an integration, anyway it should not be too hard to do. You can contact me by email directly also:
maximilian@emfstore.org

Cheers,
Maximilian

I tried to send you an email to your email account but it was rejected :S here my answer:

Hi Maximilian,

thank you for your answer. And sorry for the delay, I am doing different tasks at the moment. The requirement is to integrate our RCP / EMF application with JEE. So that´s why I wanted to start EMFStore in an AS. But after writing you/the forum I talk to my leader about that possibility or the other possibility that was starting the AP, starting EMFStore and both to communicate with each other. And now I have a specific question to answer: can EMFStore Server be build over eclipse RAP? So now I will investigate and try to answer that.

thank you very much for your time and your contact.

regards,

Cecilia.-

Hi Maximilian,

I write you again because I found out that it is possible to integrate RCP and RAP to convert the RCP app in a web app, and as EMFStore Server is an Eclipse RCP app with no GUI, it is possible to integrate it with RAP. Is there anything done within this subject? Is there anything planned to do in the future? If not, we will evaluate and separate the common functionalities and the RCP-specific and the RAP-specific. We can then make a contribution to the group.

Thanks for your help/answer in advance.

regards,

Cecilia.-

Hi,
I am answering for Maximilian as he is currently on holidays until next
week. We already build some demonstrator running EMFStore applications
in RAP, it is aboslutly possible to do. Are you using the UI delivered
with the EMFStore, or are you develping this part from scratch?
The only parts which would need some adaptations in my opinion are:
- The login: If you have webapplication you probably want to protect the
application itself with a log-In afterwards you probably do not want to
login again with the emfstore, so this should be forwarded
- Session Management: In a desktop client the local data of a user is
save to its home directory. In the web client this has to be adapted to
create a workspace for every user session depending on the current user.
Both adaptations are absolutly doable. I suggest we have a Skype meeting
to discuss your issue, my Skype name is "JonasHelming"
Regards
Jonas

Hi Jonas,

Is it possible for me to get the demonstrator application running EMFStore clients in RAP?

I'm starting a project on similar lines and would be great if I can learn from your experience.

thanks and regards
namrata
