Hi-

I was wondering if there is a way to "hide" all of the closed projects in
the Navigator in the Resource perspective. I see that I can filter on
file type (remove .* or *.class or *.ajsym), or select a "working set".
But, it would be nice to be able to just click a button or select
something to make all of my closed projects disappear. I use the "Close
Project" option on the Project menu to keep projects checked out in my
workspace that I'm not using, yet allow searches in the entire workspace
and "rebuild all" happen faster (i.e. skip the closed ones).

Am I just missing a preference or button somewhere? Or should I file an
enhancement request?

You can do it in the Package Explorer of the Java perspective. It has a much
richer set of exclude filters.

I think you are left with a enhancement request for the Navigator.

Hi,

I'm a student and a brand new user of Eclipse, and I'm also looking for a means of hiding (or preferrably de-referencing) closed projects.
I've already spent an hour looking for how to do this and frankly can't believe that the first coding I have to do in Eclipse is to write an xml file to do something that should have been included with the default package. I notice this thread was started 3 years ago and there still isn't an option to do this.

Pardon my frustration but this is not how you encourage new users to try out Eclipse.

Both, the 'Package Explorer' (view menu > Filters...) and the 'Project
Explorer' (view menu > Customize View...) offer to filter closed
projects. The view menu is opened via the triangle in the upper right
corner of a view).

The Navigator is old and outdated. Simply use the more powerful Project
Explorer.
