Hey,
I am getting a bit confused with what is going on with Eclipse PDT,
maybe I just missed a news release or something.
Correct me if I am wrong, a while ago there was a note saying something
along the line that PDT was no longer been actively developed.
Then I saw there was some limited support/activity,
http://www.eclipse.org/projects/project.php?id=tools.pdt
Now I see that there is a full 'All in ones' install, but it is still
not listed in http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/, (but only for some
legal reason or other I think).
I currently use version 2.x, it took me a while to get the various
settings right, (by that I mean, I can debug properly, breakpoints are
hit and variables are set as expected).
Setting up 2.x was not pain free and I don't really want to waste my
time on 3.x if there is little or no real gain in doing so. Maybe there
is even a way of 'migrating' a project from 2.x to 3.x?
Currently, I am using xDebug and I would like to keep using it, (Not for
any real love reason, I just never got the Zend debugger to work, no
matter how hard I tried).
I know that the easy answer would be to stick to 2.x as it works for me,
but I don't like to be a full version behind as, one day, I will have no
choice to move to the new version, (for one reason or another), and I
wont have the luxury of time/holidays and it will be a rush move.
So basically, is 3.x worth the upgrade? Shall I wait a few more months?
Does it fix some of the little annoying bugs in 2.x that we have all
grown used to? or would I be getting myself into more troubles than it
is worth and I should stick to 2.x for a while longer.
Thanks
Simon
