Starting Agent Controller on Linux failing [message #86147]

I have tried this with IBM JVM 1.5.1 as well 1.4.2. But I guess JVM seems to
be not the issue here.

I have also ensured the things mentioned in "Prerequisites" as well
"Configuring and Starting Agent Controller"
which is documented at the below link:

Please let me know. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

What were you using to unpack the zip file? The Agent Controller will
only work if unpacked by the "unzip" utility on Linux since symbolic
links will be created.

Hi,

Are you sure you would like to use the "New Technology Agent Controller".
It is not as stable as the Original "Agent Controller". I would try
downloading the original Agent controller. You could tell the difference
between the two by their file names once you have downloaded them. The
original Agent Controller zip file name starts with tptpdc.* while the
"New Technology Agent Controller" starts with agntctrl.*

To fix the problem you are having:
Check whether you accidently started the Agent Controller perviously, but
running:
ps -e |grep AC
or
ps -e |grep RA

if any processes show up as either ACServer, or RAServer, then kill that
process. Then make sure port 10002 is free by executing:
netstat -a |grep 1000

Also make sure you do not have any lingering java processes:
ps -e |grep java
if any java process exist, terminate them.

Finally check the folder: /tmp/IBMRAC
if there are any files in that folder, please remove them all, and
re-start the Agent Controller.

Given that the original logfile that Dinesh gave us indicated that there
was a problem initializing the SharedMemTL, I think we need to add the
following to the list of things to try:
ipcs

Then ipcrm the shared memory fragments lingering.

I mean that unsuccessful runs of the agent controller (I think both old
and new) can leave shared memory segments tied up. ipcs will show you
those shared memory segments... they usually come in threes as I recall.
Then "ipcrm shm <#>" will remove the ones you own.

I've seen this on various Linux systems... not just SLES. I seem to
recall it is more likely with the new tech AC because (at least at one
time) we were allocating shared memory in bigger chunks.
