Hello.

I just installed the latest Indigo release, along with the PDT packages available via the software update in eclipse itself.

I'm running Linux x64 (arch linux)

Easiest way I can explain my problem is by adding some code here:
<?php foreach ($categories as $category): ?>
(HERE if I try to type <?, it outputs ?< with the cursor placed between '?' and '<'.
<?php endforeach; ?>

Notice on the second line. This is quite iritating. It also does it if I try any other HTML tag, for example trying to type <h1 will output h< with the cursor between the first 2 characters.

Any ideas on what could cause this?

(Note, I previously uninstalled Eclipse from my distrib. package management, along with everything stored in ~/.eclipse.)

Thanks!

This bug was fixed in sourceforge builds. Update pdt features from it and
probably You will find editor ok.

Hello, thanks for the reply!

I'm not sure how to update PDT from sourceforge.. it's not in my available sites list. Googling sourceforge and eclipse doesn't give anything useful for that.

Please follow this link:
http://sourceforge.jp/users/atlanto/pf/eclipse/files/
You will find patches and some extra features with recent versions,
please download html files and install them as in readme files, there are some
jp strings but I'm sure You will easily understand how to upgrade :)

hope that helps :)

Thanks! I had to install Helios SR2 to be able to work this morning, but I will try this patch tonight on Indigo.

Thank you very much! This was driving me crazy with 3.7.1 PDT (Windows Vista 64-bit). Just to clarify for people who may not know how to install patches. Here are the steps:

1. Go to http://sourceforge.jp/users/atlanto/pf/eclipse/files/ and download the file pdt_tools.feature_patch.pdt.3.0.0.v20111128.zip.
2. In Eclipse, Help->Install New Software->Add->Local->Archive and point to the downloaded file.
3. Follow the Eclipse install wizard to install the patch to your system and re-start Eclipse.

For me, this seems to solve the editor problem. Thanks!

Thanks Mark for the in depth explanation. I suffered the same bug.
Thanks to "atlanto's" patch and your explanation on how to apply it.

It is notable that those Joomla! guys know how to write good
documentation ;)

Thanks,
Nikolai
