After this seventh fresh install, switching between Indigo 3.7 and helios 3.6. I have yet to get eclipse to connect to update itself, nor install from the google web toolkit local files. When I try the local eclipse goes online and cannot connect to whatever servers it thinks it needs.

I've been trying to run it as administrator, I shut off the local windows firewall to no avail.

I can paste the links into my web browser and download the files. Every topic I have been able to dig up on the net/forums have many of the same issues that I am running in and nobody has offered a suggestion that works, if any at all.

I am using windows 7 ultimate 64bit, Eclipse Indigo 3.7, and Eclipse Helios 3.6.
I had the Java SDK 7, and just this most recent I tried installing the JDK 6.

I also tried installing onto my windows vista 32bit system with the same problems.

When clicking on update, or install new software using the google install path, or the local install files for this it takes roughly 10-20 minutes before I get any notification at all, and all I get is failure to connect when I am clearly able to connect to the location where the files are hosted.

(I had to put spaces into the address so that I could post to the forums)

Was my description not specific enough? I know I was a bit.. perturbed when I put that together. Please I am still suffering from this issue and could really use some pointers/help to get this thing going. I have a few projects I need to get done very soon.

Thanks,
Postholes

I recall seeing some issues with updating Eclipse while running on JDK
7. Did the update also not work with JDK 6.

I have got the same problem;

a new machine with Win 7 Home Premium+SP1 64 Bit
JDK 1.7.0 64 Bit
Eclipse Indigo 64 Bit

Whenever I try to install anything I get "Read timed out" error, e.g.

Has anyone found any solution to this ?

Try to update with a 1.6 JRE.
