I've just spent some time learning a little about PHP dev with Eclipse.

Someone said I should use Code Igniter for PHP dev.

But, I want to use Eclipse for JAVA so the questions are...

1 - do I need to invest the time to learn both?
2 - Does Eclipse and Code Igniter do about the same things?
3 - Are they both consider Application Development Frameworks?
4 - What are the major differences in Eclipse and Code Igniter relative to PHP dev?

I've never used CodeIgniter, but Eclipse + the PHP Dev tools (PDT) + the Zend debugger gives you a great PHP development platform. If you also use Eclipse for Java, then this is a no-brainer (IMO).
