unable to start profiler- problem with local direct connection [message #84333] Wed, 27 September 2006 10:45 Go to next message

Hi guys,
I am running Linux slackware 10.2, Eclipse 3.2, and the following TPTP
plugins:
-agent controller 4.1.0.1
-collection framework 4.1.0
-Platform 4.1.0
-Platform Execution 4.1.0.1
-Platform Trace 4.1.0
-ProbeKit 4.1.0
-Trace 4.1.100

I didn't install any external agent controller; as far as I have understood,
I should be able to use the local direct connection, as I have no interest
in profiling remote machines/applications.

If I check the Local Direct Connnection (under Preferences->Profiling), the
test is successfull.

However, if I try to profile my application, I get this message: "an
internal error occurred during launching" and profiling gives up.

Afterwards, I find the file /tmp/IBMRAC/ramaster on the hard drive.
At this point, the test of the Local Direct Connection fails, saying that I
am running the RAC agent.
The test of the connection to localhost:10002 fails as well, because however
no agent controller is installed on the system.

If I delete /tmp/IBMRAC/ramaster, the test of Local Direct Connection is
successfull again, but then the profiler returns the internal error
described above.

I guess there is a misconfiguration, but as it is the first time I am using
TCTP I have been not able to understand where is the problem. Can you help
me?

best regards

When you test your connection, can you check to see if
/tmp/IBMRAC/ramaster is created. If so, try deleting it before profiling.
I noticed that you grabbed the 4.1 driver. I believe this was a fix that
went into 4.2.
