Are we going to get our hands dirty with 2.0 M1 at November 3rd? Are you
going to make it?

I just saw that Eclipse is preparing already 3.5.

PDT 1.x works only with 3.3 and 2.0 seems ages away.

That's pretty bad news, or am I missing something?

Will eventually 2.0 work with 3.5 or are we going to be, again, in the
past century?

PDT 1.0 works with Eclipse 3.3.
PDT 2.0 works with Eclipse 3.4, due end of December but already workable
now in N and I builds.

Eclipse 3.5 isn't due until June 2009; PDT 2.0 is due Dec 2008. How do
you suggest 2.0 be made to work with 3.5 if it's still 6 months away at
that point?

I think the real question is: will PDT 2.1 or 3.0 (whatever it's called)
be scheduled for delivery next summer, so that it can be closer aligned
to the Eclipse 3.5 (Galileo) release? Does PDT have any plans to be part
of the Galileo release train? If so, it needs to commit to that before
Galileo's M4 date (Jan 05 2009).

Personally, I think the community would benefit greatly from a PDT 2.1
in late June 2009, even if the shortened release cycle (6 months) would
reduce the amount of new content therein (eg., little more than testing
for Eclipse 3.5 interoperability & maybe some performance improvements?)

With https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=233744 nearing
completion, most of the technical requirements for participation in a
release train are now being met.

I just expressed my irritation from the general lag.

3.4 has been around for qute some time. To get 3.3 one has to really search.

I have no idea why things break so dramatically between two minor
releases of Eclipse, but in any case it would be nice if PDT alignes
with Eclipse, otherwise no matter what grand features are coming, they
cause zero excitement if they come when the release they work with has
already moved into legacy.

Exactly.

One should not forget that the idea of Eclipse is that there are tons of
features besides PDT.

I do not see the point of staying on an archaic version of Eclipse and
miss the wonderful things in the current version only because the PDT is
dramatically lacking planing.

I am sure most people will agree to have simply the old PDT features
set, without any improvements, but working on 3.4, so that they can
enjoy the other new things in Eclipse and the new thigns in the Eclipse
plugins that manage to be on time, than grand improvements, planned to
be available on some vague future date, when the hot thing will be
anyway something else.

archaic version of Eclipse - which one is it?
I am happy with 3.3 and when time come I upgrade 3.4. At the moment is
version 3.3 stable version for development. Unfortunately not everyone
have time to play with beta versions.
