Hi,

I'm trying to download a build of PDT but getting less than 1.0k/s and
intermittent timeouts from download.eclipse.org.

I also tried connecting from a remote computer several thousand miles away
and am getting the same thing so I know it's not my connection.

This has been going on for 10+ hours, is there a newsgroup for posting
about these issues that someone could suggest (or another alternative)?

It's driving me insane :-/

Two thoughts here:

a) Try a mirror - the Friends Of Eclipse site gets about 1000k/s, but
it's a pay-per-use thing at $35/year. Of course it does help the
Foundation afford bandwidth and servers, so it's a small price to pay.
There are also some pretty fast other mirrors out there in Canada and
the US. (I can't speak for the rest of the planet as I haven't tried them.)

b) This isn't a PDT issue, so try posting in eclipse.newcomer or opening
a bug if you feel it's a real issue.

Note also that Eclipse 3.4.1 was just released yesterday so there's
going to be a lot of bandwidth saturation as everyone grabs the update.
In another day or two, there will be more mirrors available and you'll
have more places to get your bits.

If you'd like to try an unofficial* PDT build, you can get it here:

* The system that builds these PDT bits will be official soon. See
http://bugs.eclipse.org/233744 for details.

Nick,

It's also important to point out that a SR1 was just released so many
thousands of people are downloading the latest and greatest yesterday
and today.

I didn't know about the recent Eclipse update, I guess that explains it.

Thanks for the replies.
