Hi Eric,

From the error messages, I see you have a TPTP 4.1.0.1 in your environment,
which runs on eclipse 3.1.

TPTP 4.2 requires eclipse 3.2. To install TPTP 4.2, please install eclipse
3.2, and use the update manager to download TPTP 4.2 and its dependencies
from the Callisto download site.

I don't know why I have Eclipse 3.1 stuff in my configuration, I did a
clean install of 3.2. How did it get there?

Sorry, please ignore that last response.

Yes, I am using Eclipse 3.2, and using update manager to download TFTP 4.2.

I don't know why I have TFTP 4.1.0.1 in my environment. How could it get
there? Is there an easy way to remove it?

Cheers, Eric

To know how TPTP 4.1.0.1 stuff got onto your "clean install of 3.2", I'd
have to know all the steps you went through... Let me run through a
scenario and you tell me where I go astray:

(1) You download Eclipse 3.2 for your platform ... but what 3.2??
Eclipse 3.2 SDK? Eclipse 3.2 Platform runtime binaries? Eclipse 3.2
Platform SDK? ... those are the three alternatives I expect to be most
likely. Alternatively, you might have gotten a "WTP all-in-one" version
of "Eclipse 3.2"... but I assume that is much less likely... correct me
if I'm wrong.

(2) You unzip and run the Eclipse executable.

(3) You go into Help => Software Updates => Find and Install... and you
select "Search for new features to install" => Next, right?

(4) At this point you want to make sure you select the "Callisto
Discovery Site" rather than the other one... I think this is now
correctly the default, but I'm not sure. This MIGHT be where you were
led down a road that led to selecting the "wrong versions".

Any of this help?

Basically I downloaded eclipse-SDK-3.2-win32.zip from the download site
and unziped it into c:\Program File\Eclipse 3.2

To download TFTP I went to Help->Software Updates->Find and Intall. I
selected "Search for new updates to install" and clicked "next". I clicked
"new remote site..." and entered
"http://eclipse.org/tptp/updates/site.xml" Next I clicked "finish" and
selected the main (first) TFTP site "TFTP Update Site". When the updates
window appeared I selected the check box next to TFTP - that's when there
error appeared.

Is that what you needed to know?

I can't see any "Callisto Discovery Site" in the list of mirrors.

Next I tried again and selected "[United States] Eclipse Foundation
Callisto Mirror 1" and the update manager downloaded a bunch of stuff,
then when I selected the TFTP check box I got the same error.

Cheers, Eric

Okay, that's good.

Okay...

That should work per the Installation Guide for TPTP 4.2 ... but easier
would have been to choose the Callisto Discovery Site at this point, NOT
to enter a new remote site. It should have been the default, or if
not, the other of the two sites listed.

> "http://eclipse.org/tptp/updates/site.xml" Next I clicked "finish" and

That's the site the Installation Guide gives...

Yes... if you have access to bugzilla could you file a bugzilla listing
what you did? If you don't have access, I'll try to reproduce what you
did and file the bugzilla myself... this is a serious blow to usability!

> I can't see any "Callisto Discovery Site" in the list of mirrors.

It's not a mirror; it's one of the two default sites pre-installed in
Eclipse 3.2. When I've used it I've not seen any problems at all.
However, if I've tried to either (1) look for "updates to existing
plugins" or (2) go to the TPTP site itself subsequent to a Callisto
install (various packages put their site into the list at installation),
I've seen "old packages" show up as available... this is just broken IMHO.

> Next I tried again and selected "[United States] Eclipse Foundation

Mirrors themselves won't make the difference... it's the install site
itself.

Sorry, it's hard to be cheery when we provide more ways to do things
wrong and don't make it obvious the way to do it right! Bummer!

OK, I found the Callisto Discovery Site check box, selected it, and
everything worked - Wha Who!

Many thanks!
