Hi,

Anyone knows if is it possible to set class cardinality on a standard UML2Tools class diagram?

Thanks in advance,
David.

David,

I'm not sure what that is, but if there isn't a way to do it in the
diagram, there's most likely a way in the properties view.

Hi Ed,

Class cardinality has to do with the maximum number of instances of one class that can exist on the system.
I have already checked the class properties and can't find anything that has to do with class cardinality.

Kind regards,
David.

David,

Is this part of the UML specification? Can you see it in the UML2 API?

Hi

I can't see anything in the UML specification. It seems to be a rather
suspect concept. Cardinality only exists in the context of
MultiplicityElement and Profile Extension.

I think that your problem is that you treat your system as the global
universe rather than modeling it. As soon as you create a System class
you can then define that the A_system_class association has a bounded
multiplicity.

[It is amazing how often modeling the System rather than using
unconcontrolled globals enables you top do more; like have two systems
in a simulation, or tre-use the 'system' as a sub-component in a
simulation of the super-system or in a test harness.]

Regards

Ed Willink

Hi,
you can set it with a "[3..*]" String after the memberend name of the
association.
