Hi

It is not possible at the moment to extract report parameters using genReport.sh or birt viewer.

It would be convenient to have such an option - integration with non-java apps would be a lot easier. Right now the only way of getting parameters is as described here: www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/deploy/usingPHP.php#parameter_form (sorry I cannot post links). However it can only work for web apps and isn't pretty. Not that calling genReport.sh or making a birt viewer request for parameters would be perfect but it would be a lot more acceptable Wink

Also if such an option is to be provided it would be nice to have at least those three output formats: csv, json and xml.

Does anybody know if there is anybody working on this or if there exists similar request somewhere in bugzilla?

The report engine api does provide a task to retrieve all the parameter
information. Are you wanting an example of this in a .sh file?

If you are saying that it is possible to run ReportRunner class from shell in order to get parameter information for particular report then yes - It'll be great to see an example. But by looking at ReportRunner.java file I don't think it is possible.

EDIT:
Nor it is possible to make a request to birt viewer to get just the parameter info for a report AFAIK.
And this is what I am asking for (if anybody reported similar requests or is anyboda already working on this)
